I was born in Slovenia’s lovely capital city of Ljubljana but had set the avid hiker and biker in me aside for a while to study civil engineering in Germany. It was there where I met my wife – the cute Spanish girl in front of me. Together we traveled the world and finally settled in my homeland, Slovenia in 2007. Since then I have been (re)discovering the hiking trails, biking backroads, hidden natural treasures and best dining spots all over the country. I am in love with Slovenia’s landscape, diversity and cultural variety and will proudly show you my “backyard”.
How do your self-guided tours work?
You will be surprised! We have done (and are still doing) a ton of work to make sure your independent active holidays in Slovenia (and across the borders) are flawless, fun, and hassle-free. With the implementation of modern technology and our extensive local knowledge, we believe we are on the right way of delivering exceptional hiking & biking experiences that you are able to enjoy at your own pace. Read more about our “self-guided added value”.
Where we sleep?
Nice, clean & centrally located 3 or 4* hotels or family-run B&B’s. You will have a family room or 2 separate (adjacent) rooms if you prefer so. Breakfast and tourist tax are included in the price. 3 nights at Lake Bohinj and 4 nights in Bovec (Soca Valley).
This trip is best for teenage kids, yet active kids from 6 years on will very much enjoy this trip. The activities will be adapted to your family needs and wants, considering feeling secure in your health, safety, and comfort. Please consult with us in case of non-swimmers will join. The minimum height for doing the zipline is 120cm.
Do I need a car?
It is advisable to have a car to maintain full flexibility at all times. If you are flying into Slovenia, we can arrange a rental car. Let us know if you prefer not to drive at all and we will slightly adapt the itinerary.
Best time of the year?
This trip is fabulous anytime between May and end of September. The lakes’ temperature is usually good for swimming between June and early September. The Soca river is chilly all year round, but will reach from 15-18 deg. C in July and August. July and especially August are the busiest months in Slovenia.
Difficulty & flexibility
The trip is designed in a way to give as much downtime as you require. We will prepare lots of options to keep you busy with amazing hikes, great bike rides, awsome activities, secret waterfalls, best places to eat and more. Thus you can always choose options based on your preference.
You can always add more adventures. But keep in mind that sometimes it’s good to take some downtime than run around worrying you might miss out otherwise. We’ll be happy to arrange anything from rock climbing, canyoning, horse-back riding, kayaking, paragliding, climb a via-ferrata and more? Let us know.
